Story of The Lord Roberts on the Green
(LROTG)

We set out to create a cozy and welcoming spot where everyone feels at home. Located in the beautiful Webb Estate, our café has evolved from a traditional English café to a vibrant, multicultural destination. Come and be a part of our story!

About Us

The Vision

Welcome to The Lord Roberts on the Green, a charming café and restaurant nestled in the heart of the elegant Webb Estate. Our story began with a simple dream: to create a place where people could gather, relax, and enjoy delicious food and drinks in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our founder, driven by a passion for hospitality, great cuisine and being of service to the community, created this historic spot into a vibrant hub for the local community over the last 120+ years. Recognised by the Bourne Society, they awarded The Lord Roberts their plaque of historic significance.

Ghazala is proud to be the new owner of The Lord Roberts and her hard work has been rewarded by it quickly becoming a beloved spot for the local community, celebrating its charming ambience and delicious array of options for different palates. Voted best outdoor dining restaurant by Restaurant Guru. It continues to collect great reviews across multiple platforms like TripAdvisor, Google and Restaurant Guru. Humbled by those reviews she continues to see how the culinary experience can be improved.

She looks forward to every Christmas to increase the numbers of "The Lord Roberts Family." Her vision is that no one should be alone on Christmas and hence with the help of volunteers a free Christmas lunch is served to anyone who has nowhere to go on Christmas Day.

She realises that community isn't built in a day so continues to improve the dining experience by creating a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for families, friends, and special occasions. Focused on making every visit memorable by helping build stronger relationships with all that share a meal. Team Lord Roberts strives to create a place where guests will always be greeted with a smile and a kind word.

She continues to host various events and celebrations, including Afternoon teas and unique experiences like crocodile and snake encounters, to engage and entertain guests of all ages.

Over the years, we've grown from a traditional English café to a multicultural haven, proudly offering a menu that includes Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free, Halal and authentic Lebanese dishes, all made with love and the finest ingredients.

Looking forward to launching our special themed culinary nights xx.

Conception of The Lord Roberts on the Green.

This is the oldest picture we have found. In this picture you can see that even in 1903 there was signage advertising The Lord Roberts, inspired by the legacy of Lord Roberts. The idea of The Lord Roberts on the Green came from an aspiring idea to create a welcoming place to eat and socialise for all residents far and wide. In the gallery above you can see the possible original signage for The Lord Roberts, it was found in the wall while the renovations were being done.
